At KSW Medical Aesthetics we use the SkinPen–a microneedling device– for Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT).

This treatment is internationally renowned, non-invasive, and extremely effective in as little as 3 treatments (90 days). Best of all, 90% of subjects in an independent clinical trial would recommend the procedure to family and friends. The results are undeniable, which is why this is KSW’s FAVORITE treatment.

How Does it Work?

The treatment causes controlled micro-injuries that stimulate your body’s natural wound healing process, regenerating Collagen and Elastin for tighter, smoother, even skin, while minimizing damage and downtime! Best of all? This is all natural! Your body is doing all the work.

THERE ARE THREE PHASES TO THE WOUND-REPAIR PROCESS:

  • Phase I: Inflammation. Piercing the skin to create tiny “channels” triggers your immune system to begin to create new tissue.
  • Phase II: Proliferation. Skin cells are rebuilt and a new network of blood vessels develops to feed healthy, new skin.
  • Phase III: Remodeling. Skin tissue and blood vessels are rejuvenated.

This process strengthens and restores your skin’s foundation. If you are spending money on Botox and Fillers, consider these treatments the walls. Although Botox and Fillers are also excellent for restoration, without the foundation, walls cannot stand supported. Rebuild you foundation so you walls are strong and lasting!

Does it hurt?

Overall, the treatment is VERY tolerable. We apply a topical numbing agent first, then begin using the SkinPen to cause tiny punctures in the top layers of skin to stimulate Collagen repair and restoration. The procedure last about 20 minutes.

Is There Downtime?

You will leave the treatment very red, as your skin channels are open and inflammed. This is intentional and typically calms to a slight pink in 4-6 hours.

After 24 hours, the treatment area often appears back to baseline, but the channels are still in the process of healing/closing. For this reason, it is recommended NOT to apply make-up for at least 72 hours. End of work-week bookings are common for this reason.

A post-treatment skincare regimen is advised and offered as part of the KSW Medical Aesthetics CIT package. You will be given clean, effective products for accelerated and optimal skin healing. All of the nutrients skin needs to regenerate; nothing more, nothing less.

How Often Are Treatments Recommended?

Treatment scheduling is based upon individual concern. However, we do not advise any less than 3 treatments, spaced 4 weeks apart. Some people may need 6-9 treatments depending on level of skin concern. Once skin is decidedly optimally repaired, maitenance treatments are recommended every 6-12 months.

Is CIT right for me?

The likely answer is YES! CIT treats to following concerns safely and effectively–AND unlike lasers, CIT can be done all year round!

Scars (acne, injury, pock/stretch marks)

Melasma (post-pregnancy) * this is the only FDA approved treatment!

Age-prevention and age-related changes: fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity

Uneven tone and texure: sun spots/photodamage

Sensitive Skin

Is this treatment only for the face?

No! Results are not limited to the face. Anywhere you have the aforementioned concerns, SkinPen can treat–and treat well! Common areas are: face, neck, chest, back of hands, abdomen for stretch marks.
